Me, of course! The fact that Elliot is bringing the heat! I’m engaging I walk out into the crowd and I include the audience. It sounds a little like stuff you would hear in the soundtrack for a movie. There are elements of rock, pop, jazz and hip-hop. The audience should expect a musical journey incorporating mixed media and acoustic guitar. Also Café 290 and Smith Olde Bar.ĭescribe a live performance – what should the audience expect? I’ve played at the Wednesday Winddown in Downtown Atlanta at Centennial Olympic Park. What are some other venues you’ve performed at lately? I also had some music in Lifetime’s movie “God’s Country”. So I wrote a song called “Force My Hand” which was recorded by Q who is a member of 112. I’ve also been writing music which has been placed in movies or on other albums. We recorded the album at Stonehenge Studios. There’s also Yanrico Scott who was a drummer for the Derek Trucks Band and Melvin Baldwin of New Edition. There’s Little John Roberts who’s done drumming for Janet Jackson and Jill. It’s me and a couple of guys from Atlanta. I’m coming out with a new album in 2013 called “Eudoknowmi” (pronounced “You Don’t Know Me”). I’m always getting musical influences from other people continuously.Īre you working on any new/special projects? I just saw a new band called Sleigh Bells, a duo. I’ve been doing the professional thing for as long as I can remember.Įric Johnson, Jeff Beck, Wes Montgomery, Jimi Hendrix. How long have you been a professional musician? He will be releasing 2 new CDs in the summer of 2012 – “Illin Em Softly” and “Elliot Holden – The Rock Instrumentals”.Įlliott Holden performs at The Commons Jazz Festival, September 2, 7:30 p.m. In 2003 Elliot produced his first CD “We be Delicious” and followed it with 2005’s “Radiance” which featured Keith Jenkins (bass) and Erik Hargrove (drums) both from the James Brown Band. However, writing, recording, and performing his own music has always been his main passion and priority. He also did time on the chitlin’ circuit backing up soul legend WILLIAM BELL. In the 1990’s Elliot toured with the cutting edge hip-hop group First Born opening for G. However the scope of Holden’s influences reaches far beyond the pantheon of guitar virtuosos. In 2005, Elliot was featured in GUITAR PLAYER Magazine’s Spotlight and his fiery playing has been compared to that of Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck and Jimi Hendrix. With his trio THE ELLIOT HOLDEN GROUP, he has built a strong regional following and earned opening slots with such acts as THE DEREK TRUCKS BAND and DIRTY DOZEN BRASS BAND. His new CD “Radiance” has received critical raves and substantial airplay throughout the southeast. In 2010, GardenCityJazz launched several new projects, including an art exhibit, print division and community festival.Elliot Holden is one of the hottest new talents to emerge on the scene in recent years. The format alternates between a classic jazz concert setting and jazz dinner/dance party in alternate years. GardenCityJazz has partnered with the Aiken Jazz Society since 2005 to present an annual festival. Prior to the collaboration, the event featured a single band. Since 2004, GardenCityJazz has worked with the City of Augusta to present the Candlelight Jazz Concert Series – 18 low-cost concerts (showcasing different styles of jazz) in a family-friendly, smoke-free setting at beautiful Riverwalk Augusta. Since then, Gordon has formed relationships with musicians, educators, festival coordinators, and organizations all with the goal of supporting jazz in the CSRA. In 2003, while still a member of quietSTORM (smooth jazz band) Karen Gordon founded Garden City Jazz with the purpose of presenting jazz in non-traditional settings. Garden City Jazz presents several programs annually in the Greater Augusta Area, providing performance opportunities for area jazz musicians and music students, while promoting awareness of the historical and cultural significance of jazz music. It is our goal to CONNECT: PROMOTE: DEVELOP. We are artists and arts supporters who appreciate jazz music of all forms.
